Events at Democracy Vineyards - Updated July 11, 2010

A fun evening is in store on Thursday, July 15 at Orchard House, the lovely B&B near Democracy Vineyards in Lovingston, Virginia. We are delighted to partner with owners Richard and Deb Bulissa and Chef Benjamin Thompson of The Rock Barn, a new catering firm in Nelson County featuring creative and thoughtful menus built on local produce.

Join Jim for a wine tasting at Olde Virginia Gourmet and Gifts – Stafford’s Hometown Country Store -- in Garrisonville, Virginia on July 17th from Noon to 4 p.m.

Join Democracy Vineyards at the Farm Bureau Center Exhibition Hall and lawn at The Meadow Event Park (a new 63,000-square-foot indoor facility near Kings Dominion) in Caroline County. The focus of the summer event will feature safe, fresh and locally grown Virginia agriculture products.

Lovingston Café will host a delicious wine pairing dinner featuring four of Democracy Vineyards’ wines for only $39 per person. Enjoy an elegant summer menu of crab balls and sun dried trout appetizers with our white blend, Declaration; a green salad with Cherry Caesar dressing and our Viognier, Unum; main course of filet mignon with potatoes and green beans paired with Velvet Revolution, our red blend; and capped off with dessert of apple pie with cheeses accompanied by Village View Gold, our popular apple wine. Lovingston Café is conveniently located off of Highway 29 on Front Street in the Village of Lovingston -- about 30 minutes from Waynesboro, Lynchburg and Charlottesville. Once again, we’ll open the vineyard for our second annual Birth of Democracy Festival. We don’t have a tasting room yet but you can join us on site at the farm from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 28 to taste and buy our wines and sample some apple cake made from our very own Ginger Gold apples. Burgers and hot dogs will be available for purchase from the Nelson Ruritans. A blessing of the harvest will follow at 5 p.m.
